個人的猜想是覺得透過這樣的方式
Mozilla可以得到一個效率高的scripting language
Adobe則透過讓script engine的開放性
除了吸引開源碼社群的人加入最佳化script engine的部分
也可以藉此讓開發人員了解到javascript與actionscript
在語法上的共通性，藉此來吸引增加Flash或Flex開發社群

不懂,
就算AS3的engine寫的再好, 在browser上仍是以interpreter的身份在跑script, 何來”以後javascript在firefox上也可以享有JIT的超快執行效率”?
